The Gardens

The Centennial Rose Garden

The Centennial Rose Garden, established in 1991, is free and open to the public to take a leisurely wander around and enjoy the beauty and the fragrance of the many varieties of roses or take a seat on one of the conveniently located benches. There are over 500 roses in the garden including climbers, shrubs, floribunda, hybrid tea, miniature, old garden and rambling roses. It is maintained almost entirely by the volunteer members of the Fraser Pacific Rose Society affectionately known as the 'Garden Gnomes' who are always happy to offer help and advice to the many visitors who drop by.

The Canadian Hybridized Rose Garden

The Canadian Hybridized Rose Garden was established in 2013. All 119 roses on the side of the garden along the lawn bowling green have been hybridized in Canada. These roses were hybridized to survive harsh Canadian winters to -30 degrees Celsius! We have local hybridizers Brad Jalbert and George Mander’s roses in the garden. As with the Centennial Garden, the members of the Fraser Pacific Rose Society tend to this garden as well.

Our visitors to the gardens include the residents of Coquitlam and the Tri-City Community, seniors from Dogwood Pavilion, special events such as wedding ceremonies, Roses & Mimosas Event attendees, groups and individual tourists from around the world, as well as flower, family and portrait photographers.

We are very thankful to the City of Coquitlam for giving our rose society a 2023 Spirit Grant to purchase new garden tools which we supply to our volunteer gardeners.

Come visit us on Saturday mornings during the growing season (weather permitting) from March to November and we would be happy to show you around and answer any of your questions about the garden or growing roses. Or, join us for hands-on experience working with the roses - gardening tools provided!
