Roses Transcend Time
WORKSHOP - Summer Care for Roses
Saturday, July 11th, 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. in the Centennial Rose Garden
Participants will discuss mid-season pruning, fertilizing and how to deal with some rose pests and diseases. As well they will learn to spot blind shoots and rootstocks. Garden tools, purchased with a Coquitlam Spirit Grant, are available for participants to use.
Closer to the date of the workshop, you can register at Park Spark to attend. Please go to Coquitlam.ca/garden, and then click on the Sign Me Up bar. Under Outdoors, click on Park Spark and go to G for Gardens to register for this FREE workshop.

Jason, from Fraser Valley Rose Farm will speak about the varieties of roses and bring roses for members to purchase.
At this meeting we will also review the 2026 Rose Show and present trophies.

Soils and Fertilizers
Presenter - Alex Johnson
Alex, from Gardenworks, Coquitlam, will present a talk on soil health and preparation.
Members are also welcome to bring in soil samples from their garden which will be tested for a fee at Elements, a soil testing company.
WORKSHOP - Waking Up the Roses
March 21st - 9:30 - 11:30 a.m.
The workshop is held outside in the Centennial Rose Garden. We will discuss what we do to “wake up the roses” and will have a hands on demonstration on transplanting roses and planting bare root roses. Please register for the workshop, which is free, with Park Spark Coquitlam.

Dianne Gaines who works at Van Noort Bulb, will speak about which plants grow well with roses. She will also have some roses and bulbs for sale at the meeting.

FLORAL ART COURSE - April & May
When: Tuesdays, 12 noon to 3:00 p.m. April 7, 14, 21, 28, and May 5, 12
Where: Mundy Park Field House, 629 Hillcrest St. Coquitlam
Cost: $90 for members; $105 for non-members (payable at time of sign up)
Some of the topics covered include: fairy garden in a teacup, designing with decorative or weathered wood, leaf manipulation, modern design techniques such as shadowing, pillowing etc, bridal and waterfall design.

We work in the Centennial and Canadian Hybridized Rose Gardens, behind the Dogwood Pavilion on
Saturday mornings, April through November, weather permitting, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
