Fraser Pacific Rose Society

We work for the greater good of the community both to inspire people of all ages to be successful in the art of gardening and to share in the commitment and beautification of our communities. We hope to stimulate the knowledge and love of gardening and to share the advantages of a society where we can share our expertise, experiences and the love of roses. We are committed to the public's enjoyment, appreciation and understanding of the cultivation of roses.

Incorporated in January of 1991 as a non-profit society and a registered charity in the Province of British Columbia. We provide our members various learning opportunities to develop the skills associated with rose growing in a friendly, fun atmosphere.

We have a partnership agreement with the City of Coquitlam to help maintain the Coquitlam Centennial and Canadian Hybridized rose gardens.

We have many members with knowledge in several fields, such as hybridizing, propogation, photography, exhibiting, and floral arts who are more than happy to share with others. Our hope is to encourage new rose growers with advice mostly directed to the 'novice' rosarian.

The Garden

The Centennial Rose Garden is free and open to the public to take a leisurely wander around and enjoy the beauty and the fragrance of the many varieties of roses or take a seat on one of the conveniently located benches. There are over 800 roses in the garden including climbers, shrubs, floribunda, hybrid tea, miniature, old garden and rambling roses. It is maintained almost entirely by the volunteer members of the Fraser Pacific Rose Society affectionately known as the 'Garden Gnomes' who are always happy to offer help and advice to the many visitors who drop by.

Our visitors to the garden include the residents of Coquitlam and the Tri-City Community, seniors from Dogwood Pavilion, special events such as wedding ceremonies, Roses & Mimosas Event attendees, groups and individual tourists from around the world, as well as flower, family and portrait photographers.

Come visit us on Saturday mornings during the growing season (weather permitting)from March to November and we would be happy to show you around and answer any of your questions about the garden or growing roses.

We are very thankful to the City of Coquitlam for giving our rose society a 2023 Spirit grant to purchase new garden tools. When you come to the garden to help out on Saturday mornings or to attend one of our workshops you will get to use these tools and get hands-on experience taking care of the roses.
